2020-06-30

The European Standard "EN 71-7:2014" has now been updated with the new amendment "A3:2020" published in April 2020 by CEN (European Committee for Standardization).  The standard is now fully titled as EN 71-7:2014+A3:2020 "Safety of toys. Finger paints. Requirements and test methods", superseding previous version: EN 71-7:2014+A2:2018.

This part of EN 71 specifies requirements for the substances and materials used in finger paints and applies to finger paints only. Additional requirements are specified for markings, labelling and containers.  Citation of this updated EN in the European Union’s Official Journal (OJEU) for Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC) is expected in near future.

Effective Date:

The Date of Publication (DOP) of this amended EN is 2020-10-31.  That means on or before that date, this new standard has to be implemented at national level in the EU by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement, and the conflicting national standards have to be withdrawn according to the Date of Withdrawal (DOW) specified in the standard.
