China Extends ROHS Controlled Substances to 10 Items

On 29 June 2024, the "State Administration for Market Regulation" (国家市场监督管理总局) published 109 national standards and 4 national standard amendments.

Amongst them, the following standards are related to the China's RoHS:

First Amendment to“Requirements of Concentration Limits for Certain Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products”

GB/T 39560.12-2024

This is a new standard for the “Determination of certain substances in electrotechnical products—Part 12: Simultaneous determination of polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers and phthalates in polymers by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry”.

The GB/T 39560 series aligns with the IEC 62321 “Determination of certain substances in electrotechnical products”.

Changes

This amendment introduces significant changes to the standard, including the inclusion of 4 additional phthalates to the list of restricted substances: Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), and Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP).

The updated conformity assessment system testing methods are specified in the GB/T 39560 series, which aligns with the IEC 62321 series standards.
