On 18 August 2025, the “Children's Lifestyle Product Safety Division” of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE 산업통상자원부) published Notice No. 2025-146 to revise the safety standard for “Infant Crib” and to enact a new standard for “Non-Sleep Inclined Cradle,” among the children’s products covered by the Special Act on Children’s Product Safety.
Purpose of Revision
A “Non-Sleep Inclined Cradle” is not suitable for infant sleep, so it is now excluded from the scope of “Infant Cribs” to prevent safety accidents arising from misunderstandings about its intended use and to ensure the safety of infants and young children.
Substantial Changes
• Establish new safety standards for “Non-Sleep Inclined Cradles” due to the separation of product scope mentioned above.
• The backrest angle of “Non-Sleep Inclined Cradles” is defined as ranging from 10° to 80° to differentiate them from “Infant Cribs,” which are intended for sleeping purposes.
